Stainless LLW Barrel for a 10-22

Posted by RIICH on Feb 28th 2021

Finally got to shoot couple steel challenge matches with this barrel, after weeks upon weeks of wet then the ludicrously cold temperatures followed by more wet weather.
The barrel far exceeded my expectations with how the rifle balances (right at the bolt) to eliminates over swing and is loud enough to get picked up by the shot timer (without the RO crowding my space to pick up the last shot)
Exceptional product for anyone wanting to upgrade their 10 22 for Steel Challenge.

    Great barrel!!!

Awesome barrel! Paired with the Wiland fiber optic front and open side rear sight. Accuracy is great for a 5.5in barrel. Shot clock friendly with ANY load and very very little felt recoil pulse. Only MINOR and I mean MINOR personal gripe is the barrel gets very hot for those who grip over the barrel. Easily fixed 3 layers of vinyl wrap. All in all VERY VERY happy. Even bought another one with comp cuts to run on a RFRO build. Great job guys!

10/22 LLW - Even better than I hoped!

Posted by Jeff Davis on Sep 21st 2020

Wanted a lighter barrel for my Steel Challenge 10/22 rifle (RFRO). The Wiland 10/22 LLW barrel was definitely the right choice. To start with, the LLW is nearly a pound lighter than the original Ruger barrel, and the fact that about 2/3 of the 11 oz. is at the breech end of the barrel only magnifies the difference in weight … the rifle now swings effortlessly.

As I mentioned, this was for my Steel Challenge RFRO … over the course of 4 matches after I switched barrels I knocked almost 10 seconds off my best match time (from high 90s to high 80's). Probably can't give the LLW barrel all the credit (being able to shoot 4 matches in 5 weeks definitely helps), but I don't think I would have made even half that leap without the LLW. And haven't had a single string where the timer didn't record my final shot, and no issues with feeding or extraction.

Beyond the purely functional part, the fit and finish of the barrel is really impressive … doesn't make it shoot any better, but it's a really good looking piece of hardware. And I think the price is very reasonable, especially compared to some "ultralight" barrels from some "bigger" names.

Bottom line, I'd recommend this barrel without hesitation!

As for Wiland, I talked to Todd at Wiland about the 10/22 LLW before I bought it, and about a PCC LLW barrel since then, and in both cases Todd was very helpful and answered all my questions and more.

Very easy to install on the 10/22 or a Thompson Center T/CR22 since the T/C has 10/22 replaceable components. The new barrel took 2 lbs off the stock T/C making it ideal for competitive shooting requiring quick, precise movements.
